Business success anything but child’s play for Business of the Year nominees

A Cheltenham toymaker challenging giants including Lego and Mattel and which is ranked 4th largest toy business in the huge US market is among the companies vying for the 2015 Melbourne Business Awards Business of the Year title.

Moose Toys will challenge other manufacturers including leading building products maker Casafico and specialist boat builder Composites Constructions for the annual award, to be handed out on Friday, December 4th.

Other nominees in the race for the award include packaging companies CMTP, Rollspack and Versatile Technology.

Mordialloc-based diary producer Tempo Foods plus marketing and photographic creative services business Nulab Group complete the eight businesses nominated for the Melbourne Business Awards, now in their 23rd year.

“It’s easy to suggest that building a business that’s taking on multinational toy giants is mere child’s play but we know true success is where it’s always found: at the end of a shovel and lot of back-breaking, hard work,” MBAs chairperson Denise Langford said.

“It’s not only Moose Toys who are leading by example; all our nominees this year are setting the standards in their industries and rightly deserve recognition and reward.”

This year’s gala breakfast will also feature keynote speaker, actor and entertainer Jason Geary, perhaps best known as the very public face of online financial services comparison site iSelect.

The MBA was established as a forum to recognise the achievements of small to medium businesses, principally in the Kingston municipality but encompassing the wider Melbourne south eastern region.

The City of Kingston alone is one of Victoria’s major employment centres and its industrial sector is one of the largest and most concentrated in the state, accommodating over 4,000 businesses with a 70,000-strong workforce.

The Business of the Year will be named at our gala breakfast at Woodlands Golf Club, White Street, Mordialloc, on Friday, December 4th. Ticket bookings can be made on the MBAs website:
