UPDATE
Following Les Twentyman’s presentation in May, 2015 we issued a “Call to Action” to the MBA Community at large. We are very pleased to advise that following this funds were raised, groups collaborated and many discussions followed culminating in the Les Twentyman Foundation committing to place an Outreach Worker in our area in conjunction with the City of Kingston Social Services team.
This move is inspiring to see the power of Corporates and Individuals alike to provide assistance to our youth and helping to keep them on the right track and away from the Criminal Justice system.
That said we have more to do. Of the two year commitment and $250K estimated cost, funding of only $70K has thus far been raised. The Foundation have committed to a long term programme, but they need our help.
We all need to do more and not just help our youth, but to build better and safer communities by engaging with our youth at risk and realise that our social issues are not things we can hide from, but we can help support those that do make a difference. We asked the Foundation to help and they have stepped up, so now it is our turn.
