Sad news - Passing of Bob Gawne


We are very saddened to hear of the passing of our dear friend and colleague Bob Gawne, MBA Business Legend, past Chair, and long-standing committee member of the Melbourne Business Awards.

Bob was a wonderful contributor to the MBA ,the broader business community and a true mentor to so many. Thanks Bob for all you did!

Celebrating 25 Years (1992 to 2017)

The Melbourne Business Awards has been recognising and rewarding excellence in the Manufacturing sector of Melbourne's South East for more than 25 years. Over this time we have recognised more than 220 local businesses and
presented more than 60 business awards. In addition to these awards, the MBA has also delivered on a number of other initiatives:
• Recognition of companies that displayed a continuing commitment to youth employment and youth apprenticeships
• Recognition of young employees
• The attendance of secondary and tertiary students as well as groups of young people with a special interest in the expertise of the keynote speaker
• Information workshops on specialist topics
• A forum for business owners to talk to other business owners

South East Melbourne

South East Melbourne (SEM) is a new initiative of the shires of Cardinia and Mornington Peninsula, and the cities of Casey, Frankston, Greater Dandenong, Kingston and Monash. These seven municipalities, together with business leaders, education providers, community organisations and external stakeholders, are looking to work together to advocate to the state and federal governments for the needs of the south east region.

2016 Melbourne Business Awards Young Achiever Hannah Wicke has initiated a hub for young people who want to exchange ideas on how to make an impact, and how they would like to lead. The inaugural Youth Hub event was held at Woodlands Golf Club on Friday 16 March where participants actively discussed the challenges of leadership and provided valuable input for the MBA "Changing of the Guard" Youth Forum Breakfast - "Leaders of Today Inspiring Leaders of Tomorrow" which will be held on Friday 4 May.
